Dr. Shekina Farr Moore
Her Blah to Fierce and Fierce to Formidable movements are empowering women and girls around the country to unbecome and develop their leadership skills.
Named among Atlanta's Power 25, Dr. Shekina Farr Moore, Ed.D, is an Author, Gender Advocate, Master Certified Coach (MCC) and FORBES Coaches Council Member. She is also Co-CEO of Eroom Marketing Group, an empowerment parent company that oversees Intercontinental Coaching Institute, Fierce Academy, Literacy Moguls Publishing, Black Reins Magazine (the first and only black cowboy magazine in the southeast), ZOOM CON (featured on the White House's United State of Women in 2016) and her Non-profit, B2F Girls Worldwide--a gender empowerment incubator that offers a comprehensive certification and accreditation program and produces advocacy initiatives, campaigns and events.
She has spoken out against gender oppression and disempowerment since 1992, penning her first published article, "Blocking Out the Gender Gap", while a high school student. This article garnered the attention of the National Press for Women. She is also the author of fourteen empowerment books including: Blah to Fierce: Women's 30-Day Guide to Getting Unstuck; Beautiful, Big-boned and Brown; Black Girls Hear: Untold Stories of the Marginalized, Unsafe & Unwelcomed; Black Boys See; and co-author of When Dark Chocolate is Bittersweet: Controversy Within A Culture.
Dr. Moore has received many national and community awards for her work with social justice and gender advocacy, including the Volunteer Service Award signed by President Barack Obama and a standing ovation and resolution by the GA House of Representatives. In 2016 and 2017, Dr. Moore was named among Atlanta’s “Who’s Who” and was recognized as one of "52 Empowering Women Who Empower Girls" in 2014. She has been featured for her work in community, youth and gender advocacy by many publications, including FORBES, Black Enterprise, Rolling Out, SHEEN, Glambitious, Millennial Mom; Head2Toe, Today's Purpose Woman, Connected Woman Magazine and The Huffington Post.
Dr. Moore received her B.A. in French (1999) and her M.S.A. in School Administration from North Carolina Central University (2004). She earned her Ed.S. (2009) and her Ed.D. (2016) in Educational Administration and Supervision from North Carolina State University. Her research focused on the perspectives of Black male teachers and the recruitment strategies employed by colleges, universities and local education agencies. This garnered the attention of many, including the The National Conference on Education where Dr. Moore was asked by the School Superintendent's Association (AASA) to present her data to and lead discourse with state superintendents from around the country.
Dr. Moore is a member of Lean In Atlanta, the National Association for Multicultural Education and the National Association of Professional Women. She resides in Atlanta, GA with her husband and two children.
She enjoys family time, cooking, and binge-reading with a good, hot green tea and sushi.
