ABOUT THE ANTHOLOGY

Studies show that teacher satisfaction is steadily declining across America. What teachers need most is SUPPORT.

Teachers want to be in environments where they are going to be successful with students, where they're getting help to do that, where they have good colleagues, where they're working as a team. What great schools, great principals, and great school teams know is that you support teachers by structuring group collaboration for planning curriculum, by building professional learning communities, by encouraging ongoing inquiry into practice.

The schools that build those kinds of environments give teachers continuous opportunities to grow and learn, provide the tools they need to do their job, and enable them to build good relationships with parents so they can work as partners on behalf of the child.

Your Child My Student shares stories from the classroom and beyond in hopes of providing insight and inspiration to inform practice at from varying vantage points. These themes include: mental health, mentoring, homeschooling, village mentality, confidence-building, relationship-building, parent communication, cultural sensitivity, working with students on IEP  plans and more.

Calling All Educators, Mentors, Community & Youth Leaders!

Have you been working in the trenches of education?

Have you ever experienced something in the education arena that will positively impact a new educator or parent or someone considering  becoming a guardian?

Have you been told you're a great mentor?

Excellent teacher?

Great role model?

Have you had an experience where you learned what NOT to do from a teacher or mentor?

How does your position influence how you relate to children and other educators and youth leaders?

Teachers and parents are often ignored in policy discussions-What are your thoughts on this? Tell your story or perspective to help shed light on what's going on in the trenches, but be sure to frame it in a way that will provide hope, insight and awareness to new teachers, youth leaders and/or parents.

Please submit 4-7 paragraphs typed in Times New Roman 12-pt font. Not more than one (1.5) Word document pages.

All submissions are due by January 15, 2019. 

*EACH APPROVED CONTRIBUTOR WILL RECEIVE A CONTRIBUTOR BADGE FOR HER WEBSITE & SOCIAL MEDIA. A CONFERENCE CALL WILL BE SCHEDULED ONCE ALL SUBMISSIONS ARE RECEIVED.
